Our School Day
|Morning Club: SKA provides a morning club from 7.45am.|
Children can access school through the top gate and in through the main entrance. Mrs Hazlehurst supervisors the children and is also on offer to provide refreshments and a morning snack.Children can use their time at morning club to read books for pleasure, revise for exams or increase their reading fluency and mileage on 'Reading Plus'.
For £1.20 per day children are served cereal, toast and a choice of beans or spaghetti. Milk and fruit juice are also available.
Timings of the School Day
Classroom doors are open from 8.30am - Children should not arrive in school before this time, supervision commences at 8:30am. (This is to ensure there is no breach in Health and Safety).
08.55am (Gate closes at 9.00am and Registers close 9.05am)

The cost of a school dinner is £10.50 per week payable on the first day of each week.
Please ensure that the money is in a named, sealed envelope.
If you wish your child to change from dinners to packed lunches, or vice versa, we ask that you notify us the week before.
School meals will not be provided for anyone who approaches 2 weeks of non payment.
PE Uniform Expectations
Indoor – Grey T-shirt with logo, Black shorts (long hair must be tied back)
Winter/Outdoor PE – Trainers. Plain black loose fitting tracksuit bottoms (no lycra or leggings)
Jewellery is not permitted in school – but children are allowed to wear a watch and stud earrings (one earring for boys and two earrings for girls)
No extreme hair styles are acceptable – e.g. colours, braids. No nail polish or false nails
Long hair should be tied back to help fight against headlice.
The nurse no longer visits school to check the children’s hair, so it is important that parents make regular checks to make sure their child’s hair is free from head lice.
Each child should enter school by the pedestrian entrance - not the car park. Parents should park in the Cricket Club Carpark (Social Club), this is an agreed parking facility.
Children are encouraged to take their reading books home each day and we ask that parents listen to their children read as often as is possible.
Homework will be set and details will be attached in Learning Logs for parents to see.
Rucksacks are advisable.
If your child is absent, or is about to be absent then please contact the class teacher as soon as possible, preferably with a note, or telephone school on the first morning of absence. We now operate a text messaging service and if we do not know why your child is absent, then you will receive a message to your mobile ‘phone. All unauthorised absence will be recorded in the pupil’s school report.
It is important that children come to school on time and if there is a problem then please inform school by telephone on the first morning of absence. A late mark will be given for children arriving after the registers have closed at 9.05am.
HOLIDAYS IN TERM TIME
Holidays in term time are no longer authorised. Fixed Penalty Fines are now in place within all pyramid primary schools and is written into the schools policy.
EMERGENCY SCHOOL CLOSURES
If school should have to close at short notice, details will be given out on
Ridings FM 106.8 frequency and on their website www.ridingsfm.co.uk
School will text all parents in the event of a closure
It is school policy that tablets, cough medicine etc. is not dispensed in school. You are welcome to come into school and give your child the prescribed medication. Only prescribed medication that needs to be dispensed four times a day can be administered by school staff and parents will have to complete a permission form before we can do this.
Parents are very welcome in school and if you should wish to help in any way, then please let us know. Additional information can be sought at any time from either the Class Teacher or the Headteacher.
